Welcome.
Thank you for inquiring about the Electronic
Medical Billing Network of America, Inc. Whether you are an established billing center or
an entrepreneur looking for a new business opportunity,
I am certain you will find this professional association offers the benefits you need to
build and grow a successful medical billing business.
I have been the owner/operator of my own company, the Electronic Medical Billing Service
in Watchung, New Jersey as a part-time venture since 1990. I've found that it has fit my
life-style and financial needs ever since. As billers for medical claims and durable
medical equipment, my company has afforded me the opportunity to share many time-proven
success techniques and insights, as the author of many books on the electronic medical
billing business and as Executive Director of the EMBN.Off to a slow start . . .
When I started in 1990, I shelled out $10,000
for software and a 3-day training course which was given in Pasadena, California. The
software vendor was Hi Tech Management Co. I mention them openly because they have since
gone bankrupt.
When I got back to New Jersey and started marketing my new found skills, I found that
doctors were not as receptive to this service as I was led to believe they would be. It
took a solid five months of full-time marketing to land my first doctor.! I imagine in
that time I did everything I possibly could-wrong. Since then, through trial and error,
study and talking with many others in the business, I've learned the marketing techniques
that make this business work. I know they work because the doctors just keep calling.
The Network was started in 1995. Prior to that I was teaching adult school classes on the
subject of how to start up an electronic medical billing business. That seminar is still
presented over 100 times a year in New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York City. Its purpose
remains the same: To tell the real story about medical billing as a home-based business .
. . without the sales hype.
An exciting association,
nationwide!
The Electronic Medical Billing Network was
started in response to many of my students' desires to start their billing centers without
having to strike out alone. And, I am happy in the knowledge that through the Network's
efforts many, many individuals across the nation have gone on to build very lucrative
businesses. Now, as we enter the new milennium, the Network has grown substantially. We
have added much depth and breadth to our own growth and development through the addition
of Mr. Laurence Paruta, Co-President and principal. Larry brings over twenty-five years of
marketing, publishing and entreprenurial expertise to the Network. He has started several
very successful home-based businesses; two of which are currently under his direction for
more than thirteen years. Larry's experience will serve the Network's membership well as
we work to develop new and exciting learning and business advancement opportunities for
our members.
Additionally, we have added additional support personnel to ensure that the Network
operations remain smooth and efficient. And, finally, we have built a fullfillment center
in Pennsylvania to handle distribution of our publications, tapes, software demos and
colateral marketing materials.
The Network provides benefits you
can take to the bank.
Our 8-page, monthly newsletter provides our
members with up-to-date information on marketing and sales techniques/strategies,
government developments and alerts, software info and troubleshooting guidance,
motivational articles, case histories by successful billers and the latest info on new
products and supplies.
Through the Network, members receive discounts on books and publications, billing
supplies and marketing brochures and materials.
A phone-support hotline is available to all members. The best benefit is learning
that others are going through the same situations in marketing and start-up and that there
is help available from sources other than software salespeople.
We hold monthly meetings in Central New Jersey that feature industry-related
speakers, panel discussions with experienced electronic billers and lively one-on-one
discussion with people in the business.
And, new in 2000, will be the availability of cassette tape recordings of each meeting's
professional speaker as well as panel discussions featuring successful electronic medical
billing entrepreneurs.
Certification from your home.
Responding to many membership requests, the Network
Certification School was started in 1997. This homestudy course has three units in
starting, marketing and building a successful billing center business. Passing the final
examination earns the designation Certified Electronic Medical Biller (CEMB). CEMB
Graduates agree that their CEMB credential has provided a significant boost with
prospective and existing clients.
